Separatist militants in southwestern Pakistan claimed to have killed 50 hostages from a train hijacking, while Pakistani forces rescued 155-190 passengers. The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility, demanding the release of Baloch prisoners and an end to the military operation, threatening further executions. The army initially stated all militants were killed, but later confirmed 31 deaths in the hijacking.
